            An art therapist uses creative self-expression of art to ameliorate depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental disorders in all age groups such as kids, teenagers, women, men, and the elderly.  Being a therapist would likely have sensitivity, empathy, emotional stability, patience, interpersonal skills, insight into human behavior and an understanding of artistic media. An art therapist must be an attentive listener and a keen observer. 

            A master’s degree to practice art therapy is required to become an art therapist.  100 hours of practicum and 600 hours of being an art therapist intern. George Washington and Holstra are the best colleges to attend for art therapy training.
